Shelburne Farms
The 1,400 acre working farm, environmental education center and National Historic Landmark. Daily property tours, Children’s Farmyard, see cheesemaking, walk eight miles of scenic trails. Inn open for breakfast, dinner and overnight stays. Property admission: $8/adults, $7 seniors, $5/children 3 to 17, free for children under 3. Burlington Summer & Winter Farmers Market
The Summer market starts the second Saturday in May and runs until the end of October, setting up in City Hall Park. The winter market is located in Memorial Auditorium every third Saturday from November to April. 45 vendors sell produce, meats, prepared foods, wine and crafts. Hours are 10 am - 2 pm.

Bedrock to Birds: The Natural History of Shelburne Farms’ Working Landscape
Enjoy a weekend rich in discovery and friendship as you explore the natural history of the Farms’ rural working landscape from bedrock to birds and from forest to furniture. This residential program includes morning bird walks during the year’s most diverse bird-watching season, wildflower identification, geology explorations and wildlife observation. Led by naturalists Walter Poleman and Matt Kolan. The Complete Kitchen Garden Book Talk & Luncheon
Ellen Ecker Ogden, co-founder of The Cook’s Garden seed catalog, and author of articles in The New York Times, Eating Well, and Martha Stewart Living, will talk about her new book. 22nd Annual KeyBank Vermont City Marathon and Marathon Relay
Ranked as one of the top 20 best Marathon events in the country, this marathon and marathon relay event accepts a limit of 8,000 entries. Live music, food and over 30,000 spectators line this award winning scenic Burlington course. Outstanding 2 day Sports & Fitness Expo 5/27 and 5/28.

Lunch and ‘Behind the Scenes’ Formal Garden Restoration Tour
Douglas Porter, architectural conservator for Shelburne Farms, leads an intimate tour of the major, multi-year garden restoration project currently underway. Birgit Deeds, head gardener, highlights historic plant materials. Lunch features farm-produced ingredients. 11:30 am -

Burlington Discover
Jazz Festival
The Burlington Discover Jazz Festival celebrates its 28th year from June 3-12, 2011, with the sounds of jazz, blues, funk and Latin music. For 10 days, over 50,000 people enjoy a unique mix of concerts, dances, jams, street parties, cruises on Lake Champlain, meet the artist sessions and workshops. “Hammer-In”

Celebrating 35 years, New England’s largest and oldest quilt event at the Champlain Valley Exposition, Essex Junction. Green Mountain Draft Horse Field Day at Shelburne Farms
11 am to 2 pm Demonstrations of traditional farming methods and a chance to admire the horses and other draft animals. Horse-drawn hayrides, and demonstrations. Food.
