  TRADITION AND INNOVATION --  CELEBRATING 125 YEARS OF THE ARTIST IN CORNISH.  The artist were from Windsor Vermont and Plainfield and Cornish New Hampshire.  They were painters, sculptors, musicians, writers, dancers and actors.  Visit the Museum Wednesday -Sunday from 11a.m. to 5p.m. Suggested donations $6 adults $5 seniors and youth, children under 10 with an adult or senior  free. THE NEW ENGLAND LIVING SHOW HOUSE

(All events listed are being held at Juniper Hill Inn at 153 Pembroke Rd.off of Juniper Hill Rd. which is between County Rd and Rte 5/Main St. in Windsor VT)

The New England Living Show House (to benefit 6 non-profits) will kick of a 15 month Season on Friday May 28 from 7pm to 11pm at Juniper Hill Inn in Windsor Vermont. The 8th Annual Harpoon Brewery Octoberfest Road Race    Runners to your mark…get set…Oompah!  The 8th Annual Harpoon Octoberfest Road Race will be held on Sunday, at the Harpoon Brewery in Windsor, VT.  Runners of all levels are invited to enjoy the beautiful race course and celebrate post-race at Harpoon’s annual Octoberfest festival, all in support of a great cause.  Proceeds from the race will benefit the Norris Cotton Cancer Center.

                        Race day registration time & number pick up: 10:30am–11:30am

Where:           The Harpoon Brewery (336 Ruth Carney Drive) in Windsor, Vermont

American Precision Museum

CALENDAR OF EVENTS 2010

 
The Museum is open daily, including weekends and holidays, 10:00am to 5:00pm through October 31. Adult Admission $ 6.00  Students $ 4.00  Family (parents or grandparents with school-aged children) $ 18.00 Free Admission every Sunday this season.

Exhibit: From Muskets to Motor Cars: Yankee Ingenuity and the Road to Mass Production
Explore the tools and products that led to mass production, and enjoy seeing several watches and clocks from the collection of Ed Battison, the museum’s founder, added to the exhibit for 2010.
 
Exhibit: Waterwheel Pit and Millwork, Robbins &Lawrence Armory
Interpretive drawings from the study by the Historic American Engineering Record explain how the museum’s building evolved from 1846 to the present. Detailed renderings of the 1846 period show how the waterpower system worked.
 
Working Machine Shop - 10:30am – 4:30 pm
Student interns provide demonstrations on working machines from late June - mid August and on one day each weekend through October. The River Valley Technical Center, Springfield VT is our project partner.

Precision Timekeeping
Precision manufacturing was critical to the production of interchangeable parts and precision timekeeping mechanisms for railroad and military applications. Antique clock and watch collectors and experts, Steve Sanborn and Ted Cooley will discuss the history of clocks and the development of precision timekeeping.

Mobile Manufacturing Exposition
This self-contained educational ‘road show’ from Springfield VT’s River Valley Technical Center introduces students and other visitorsto the high-tech world of modern manufacturing through a series of hands-on activities.
 
Sunday August 15th - 2:00pm
A Fife and Drum Concert with Connecticut Valley Field Music
For fifteen years, these musicians have been developing the genre of traditional music for fife and drum. This concert featuring rope-tension snare and bass drums and wooden fifes will be followed by a lecture on the history of field music in this country and Europe by the band’s founder and leader, Jim Clark. Free Admission

11th annual Model Engineering Show, 9:00 am-5:00 pm
American Precision Museum
Visit with New England’s finest model engineers and enjoy special workshops and demonstrations throughout the day.  
The museum will host a day-long reunion for former employees, families and friends of Jones & Lamson, Bryant Chucking Grinder and Fellows Gear Shaper.  Starting at the museum with a special tour in the morning, the program moves to the Windsor Welcome Center on Depot Street for lunch and the afternoon discussion.  Greg Sharrow, Director of Education, Vermont Folklife Center, will lead a participative session focusing on life in Springfield during the rise and fall of these three leading machine tool companies.  Dessert and drinks provided by the museum.  Sponsored by the Vermont Humanities Council  Free Admission
