For Vermont Byway Organizers

Welcome

This page offers information to local residents and organizations who are considering the creation of a byway in their area. It also provides information for those people and organizations who are currently working with an established designated byway. If you have any further questions you may contact the Vermont State Byway Program Manager:

Included on this page are the state “Program Manual”, our “Byway Field Guide” and a Power Point presentation you can download and use at initial meetings to introduce the byway concept in your area.

Please Note the following presentations:

- The Power Point presentation on “Capacity Planning” was presented by Kerri Cahill a planner for the National Park Service at a national byway conference. Kerri specializes in general management plans and visitor capacity planning. Her previous work experience includes working for the State of Florida to develop management plans for Florida State Parks. Academic background includes a master’s degree in park and natural resource planning, and a PhD in Natural resource recreation management, focused on visitor capacity planning.

Kerri’s presentation is geared towards planning capacity along a byway. One major point Kerri speaks to is: planning for "effect" not people. I found much of the information in this presentation to be useful and worthy of discussion among byway planners and organizers.

We thank Kerri and the National Park Service for allowing us to offer this presentation on our website.

- The Power Point presentation on “Evaluating Projects” was presented at a national byways conference by Jackie Moen, organizational trainer from Training Connections. We thank them for their permission to use their Power Point.

 - Managing A Project Effectively was also presented at a national byways conference by Jackie Moen from Training Connections. Again, we thank them for their permission to use their Power Point.
