May 13 and 14- Bennington Library Annual BookFest.  Friday evening $10 admission.  Saturday Free.  Held at the First Baptist Church on Main Street (Molly Stark Trail) in Bennington.  Humongous Book Sale to Benefit the Bennington Free Library.
 
May 15Shires Marathon.  Beginning at 9:00 from the Bennington Center for the Arts on the Molly Stark Byway and ending at the Hildene Meadows in Manchester.
 
May 28thMayfest. Main Street Bennington (Molly Stark Byway) All Day Annual Street Fair with arts, fine crafts, food and music.
 
June 17th- Hemmings Sponsored Great Race 2011.  Vintage Vehicles compete in a time and endurance race from Chattanooga, Tennessee to the Finish Line right on Main Street, Bennington. From 3-5 p.m. almost 100 vehicles pass through the Arc d’Triumph until the winner arrives.  Food, Music and Fun with the race teams.
 
June 18th- 250th Anniversary of the Settling of Old Bennington.  Volunteers in period costume give guided walking tours up and down Monument Avenue. Learn about the Bennington Battle Monument, our first settlers, colonial crafts, Historic re-enactors, and hear the story behind the Old First Church.
 
July 4th- Fireworks display at Willow Park in Bennington at dusk.
 
August 14th- Battle Day Parade down Main Street Bennington at 12:30.  On the 13th at the recreation center there are children’s activities.  Police and Fireman softball game, and other exciting competitions at the Fire House.  Friday night Chicken Barbeque at the Fire House.
 
September 3 & 4- Annual Southern Vermont Garlic Festival at Camelot Village on Route 9 west (Molly Stark Byway) in Bennington. Everything garlic you could dream of.  There are also games and activities for all ages. This has been acclaimed as one of the Top Ten Garlic Festivals in the World.  Yet it retains its local country charm.  Parking is free and the gate is $5.  Enjoy the Food, Music, Beer Tent and Fun.
 
September 17 and 18 – The Bennington Car Show returns to Willow Park in Bennington. This year will be the 45th Anniversary of the Car Show.  New activities are planned – including Music, Family Entertainment, Town-wide Shuttle, and New Vendors.  Old favorites remain - like the Tractor Pull and Antique Vehicles. Adjacent parking and $8 admission at the gate.
