About the Stone Valley Byway

The Stone Valley Byway is Vermont’s most recently designated byway.

The Byway wonders along Route 30 through the very scenic Mettawee Valley from the town of Poultney in the north to Manchester in the south. The area is known for its early stone quarries including the oldest marble quarry in the U.S. first quarried in 1785. The Byway offers up beautiful Lake St. Catherine with a Vermont State Park located on its shores providing camping and a wonderful beach for day visits. Golfing, fishing and hiking are offered up as well. Tour the quaint villages of Poultney, Wells, and Dorset. Find some of the finest outlet shopping in Vermont in the ski town of Manchester. The Stone Valley Byway offers a little something for everyone.
